Reassessing Strategies in 2025: The Future of Foreign Investment in China

  • Aug 10
  • 2 min read

In this Woodburn Academy webinar, Kristina Koehler-Coluccia looks at how foreign investors should be reassessing their China strategy for 2025, and where the opportunities still sit. It runs for about 37 minutes.

About the speaker

Kristina Koehler-Coluccia is Head of Business Advisory at Woodburn Accountants & Advisors. She has spent more than two decades helping foreign companies set up and run their operations in China and Hong Kong, and she leads the firm's Woodburn Academy sessions.

What this session covers

  • The obstacles foreign businesses face now, from regulation to shifting economics

  • Reassessing your market entry method and your operating model

  • Emerging sectors and where growth is still genuinely available

  • Supply chain resilience and stronger local partnerships

  • Building sustainability into how you operate rather than bolting it on

Why this matters if you already invest in China

Strategy reviews in China tend to be triggered by something external, a tariff, a regulation, a partner problem, and then run in a hurry. The more useful version starts with the structure. Is the entity you set up five years ago still the right one for what you are doing now? Is the registered capital still appropriate? Are you carrying people through an agent who should be on your own payroll? These questions are unglamorous, but they decide how quickly you can move when conditions change.

That review usually touches China company registration, the annual tax and audit position, and whether an employer of record still makes sense for part of your team.
