About the Roundtable
British trade with China hit an all-time high in the 12 months up to the end of June 2023, with two-way exports and imports reaching £107.5bn. Include Hong Kong and this number jumps to £138.6bn, putting China behind only the US (£310.0b) and Germany (£146.9b) among the UK’s largest trading partners.
While the potential that China presents to UK companies is huge, realising that potential often takes a bit of thought. It is important, for example, to ensure your business model is sufficiently localised and that you are pursuing the right partners, whether for sourcing, distribution or manufacturing. Similarly, you should be aware of any critical market access, policy or business environment factors that could impact your sector. There are also the nuances of the different routes to market to consider: sophisticated and ever-evolving consumer profiles should be taken into account, as should the demographic and geographic factors driving demand.
To complement the launch of CBBC’s China Business Guide 2024, and with the support of the Guide’s Lead Partners Santander and Woodburn Accountants & Advisors, we would like to invite you to join our Doing Business with China: Getting Started webinar, where we will discuss all of these issues and more.
Targeting China-ready businesses as well as those curious about the market, this webinar will feature Alex Phillips (Greater China Corridor Director, Santander UK) and Kristina Koehler-Coluccia (Head of Business Advisory, Woodburn Accountants & Advisors). Both Alex and Kristina will share their insights from and experiences of working with a range of businesses succeeding in China, from MNCs to new exporters, along the way providing the professional guidance needed to optimise business plans and begin working with one of the world’s largest and most dynamic markets.
